Waiting on Wednesday (10)

Hi everyone! Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.

This week I'm waiting on...

7 SOULS by Barnabas Miller & Jordan Orlando

Mary expected her seventeenth birthday to be a blowout to remember, courtesy of her best friends, fellow New York City prepsters Amy and Joon, and her doting boyfriend, Trick.
Instead, the day starts badly and gets worse. After waking up in a mortifying place with a massive, unexplainable hangover, Mary soon discovers that nobody at school is even aware that it's her birthday. As evening approaches, paranoia sets in. Mary just can't shake the feeling that someone is out to get her—and, as it turns out, she's right. Before the night is over, she's been killed in cold blood.
But murder is just the beginning of Mary's ordeal. Her soul gets trapped in a strange limbo, and she must relive the day of her death through the eyes of seven people—each of whom, she finds, had plenty of reasons to hate her. As Mary explores the mysteries of her world, discovering secrets that were hidden in plain sight while she was alive, she clings desperately to the hope that she can solve her own murder, change the past, and—just maybe—save her own life.
That sounds pretty awesome, right? I love reading books that involve different concepts of afterlife - they're always so interesting, and this one sounds pretty unique and different too!

7 SOULS will be released on July 13th, 2010, by Delacorte.

Waiting on Wednesday (9)

Hi guys! Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.
This week I'm really excited for...

SHADOW HILLS by Anastasia Hopcus

His love captivated her... his secrets might kill her.

Since her sister’s mysterious death, Persephone “Phe” Archer has been plagued by a series of disturbing dreams. Determined to find out what happened to her sister, Phe enrolls at Devenish Prep in Shadow Hills, Massachusetts—the subject of her sister’s final diary entry.

After stepping on campus, Phe immediately realizes that there’s something different about this place—an unexplained epidemic that decimated the town in the 1700s, an ancient and creepy cemetery, and gorgeous boy Zach—and somehow she’s connected to it all.

But the more questions she asks and the deeper she digs, the more entangled Phe becomes in the haunting past of Shadow Hills. Finding what links her to this town…might cost her her life.

Doesn't that sound great?! I know a lot of bloggers have already read and reviewed this one, but I haven't, so that makes me extremely excited for this book. Oh, and in case that didn't make you drool, the trailer definitely will.

SHADOW HILLS will be released July 13th, 2010, by EgmontUSA.

Waiting on Wednesday (8)

Hihihi!!! Oh, wow, super sorry for posting a late WoW, but right now, even though it's summer, I've been extremely busy. So here's my late WoW post!
Remember how it's a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine? Guess what - it still is! Woohoo!
So my pick for this week is The Poison Diaries by Maryrose Wood.

Jessamine Luxson lives with her father, Thomas, an apothecary, in an isolated cottage near Alnwick Castle. Thomas’s pride and obsession is his locked garden full of dangerous plants, which Jessamine is forbidden to enter.

When a traveler brings an orphan to their cottage, he claims the boy has special gifts that Thomas might value. Jessamine is drawn to the strange but intriguing boy, called Weed. Soon their friendship deepens into love. Finally, Weed shares his secret: He can communicate with plants. For him they have distinct personalities—and some are even murderous. From the locked garden the poisonous plants call to Weed, luring him with promises of deadly power.

When Jessamine falls inexplicably ill, only Weed’s relationship with the Poisons can save her. But Thomas is determined to exploit Weed’s abilities, even if it risks Jessamine’s life—or drives Weed to the brink of madness.…

So I'm really excited for this one because I've never really read a book that had poison playing such a critical role except maybe the Study series by Maria Snyder, and those I absolutely loved so I'm definitely looking forward to this one. Plus, the cover is gorgeous! And you guys all know that a gorgeous cover never hurt anyone ;)

The Poison Diaries will be released on July 20th 2010 by Balzer + Bray.

So what are you *points at you* waiting on this week?

Waiting on Wednesday (7)

Hi everyone! So sorry I didn't post yesterday, but as I told you, I had my graduation. That was a complete BLAST and now I just got back from school -- LAST DAY!!! It's FINALLY summer for me!!! But I can't believe how quickly the school year went by...who else thinks so? :)

Anyways, here's my (late) WoW post. As you all know, WoW is hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine.

The book I've chosen for this week is Nomansland by Lesley Hauge. This book is actually being released really soon, and I can't wait for it! I've heard some great things about it and that just excites me :)Sometime in the future, a lonely, windswept island is populated
solely by women. Among these women is a group of teenaged
Trackers—expert equestrians and archers—whose job is to
protect their shores from the enemy. The enemy, they’ve been
told, is men. When these girls come upon a partially buried
home from the distant past, they are fascinated by the strange
objects—high-heeled shoes, teen magazines, make-up—found
there. What are they to make of these mysterious things? And
what does it mean for their strict society where friendship is
forbidden and rules must be obeyed—at all costs?

Nomansland will be released on June 22nd, 2010, by Henry Holt.

So guys! Tell me - what are you waiting on this week?

Oh, and a big Happy Release Day to author Heidi R. Kling! Her debut book, Sea, just debuted today!!! I'm super excited to read it - in fact, I think I'll go buy it now.

Waiting on Wednesday (6)

Hey guys! I'm so sorry for the late Waiting on Wednesday, but yesterday I totally forgot it was Wednesday. Anyway, I'm posting my WoW now! This is a weekly meme hosted by Jill of Breaking The Spine.

This week I'm wishing and aching for Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce. It comes out in four days, which means I need to post this fast!

Scarlett March lives to hunt the Fenris-- the werewolves that took her eye when she was defending her sister Rosie from a brutal attack. Armed with a razor-sharp hatchet and blood-red cloak, Scarlett is an expert at luring and slaying the wolves. She's determined to protect other young girls from a grisly death, and her raging heart will not rest until every single wolf is dead.

Rosie March once felt her bond with her sister was unbreakable. Owing Scarlett her life, Rosie hunts fiercely alongside her. Now Rosie dreams of a life beyond the wolves and finds herself drawn to Silas, a young woodsman who is deadly with an ax-- but loving him means betraying her sister and has the potential to destroy all they've worked for.
Does that not sound freaking amazing?! Can you not see why I'm desperately hoping for June 7th to come?

Waiting on Wednesday (5)

Hey everyone! Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

This week I'm really excited for Please Ignore Vera Dietz, by AS King. I've read The Dust of 100 Dogs by her, and I really enjoyed it! So I'm hoping that her next book will be just as good, if not better.
Now that we've established that I really want to read this book, here's what it's about:
---Is it okay to hate a dead kid?
---Even if I loved him once?
---Even if he was my best friend?
---Is it okay to hate him for being dead?

Vera's spent her whole life secretly in love with her best friend, Charlie Kahn. And over the years she's kept a lot of his secrets. Even after he betrayed her. Even after he ruined everything.

So when Charlie dies in dark circumstances, Vera knows a lot more than anyone—the kids at school, his family, or even the police. But will she emerge and clear his name? Does she even want to?

Waiting on Wednesday (3)

Hey everyone! Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine.

So, this week's pick is The Extraordinary Secrets of April, May, and June by Robin Benway. I totally loved her first book, Audrey, Wait, and I was so excited when I heard she had another one coming out!

Three sisters, three extraordinary, life-changing powers!

I hugged my sisters and they fit against my sides like two jigsaw pieces that would never fit anywhere else. I couldn’t imagine ever letting them go again, like releasing them would be to surrender the best parts of myself.

Three sisters share a magical, unshakeable bond in this witty high-concept novel from the critically acclaimed author of Audrey, Wait! Around the time of their parents’ divorce, sisters April, May, and June recover special powers from childhood—powers that come in handy navigating the hell that is high school. Powers that help them cope with the hardest year of their lives. But could they have a greater purpose?

April, the oldest and a bit of a worrier, can see the future. Middle-child May can literally disappear. And baby June reads minds—everyone’s but her own. When April gets a vision of disaster, the girls come together to save the day and reconcile their strained family. They realize that no matter what happens, powers or no powers, they’ll always have each other.

Because there’s one thing stronger than magic: sisterhood.

It sounds so good and I can't wait to get my hands on this one!

This book (I would type the title, but it's pretty long) will be released on August 3rd, 2010 by Razorbill.
