Review: Hush Hush

For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.
General Overview: All the reviews I'd read about this book before I read it were raving reviews. I had extremely high expectations for Hush Hush, and Becca Fitzpatrick managed to exceed every single one. I was so impressed with her debut novel!

Characters: Vee really annoyed me -- I'm not sure if Fitzpatrick meant for her to be that irritating, but it worked for this book. I couldn't really understand why Nora was best friends with Vee -- they seemed to me like polar opposites. Nora was sarcastic, and I love that in any character and any person! But in addition to that she was brilliantly smart, and it was nice to read about someone who was semi-nerdy (and I mean that in the best way possible). Patch was cocky, arrogant, self-centered, mysterious…what more could you ask for in a guy? I'd heard that path was one of those characters you'd either love or hate, and I absolutely LOVED Patch! I didn't get why Nora kept resisting his advances, cos I think I would've just been drooling and unable to form coherent sentences.

Plot: There were plenty of twists and turns in Hush Hush. It had a lot of things going for it. There were a lot of things that I didn't see coming, but also a few that I did. I thought that there were a few times when the events weren't so clearly described and I was a tad confused, but everything cleared up quickly and left me to admire the book once again.

Writing: Becca Fitzpatrick is descriptive and precise. I could imagine every scene rolling through my mind as I read, almost like a little movie in my head. I absolutely love the idea for Hush Hush and I thought the author executed the idea impeccably.

Cover: This cover is absolutely gorgeous! I love the arched position the angel is in (who I'm guessing is Patch) and the dark shades of the image. It's not really noticeable on the computer, but the feathers from the angel's wings start turning red near the top. One of my all-time favorite covers.

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

Haha, well, I think Patch was over-doing it a bit at times, but I guess I'm actually one of the few that thought he was okay. He was a little to aggressive for me, but he had his moment. Great review, and I LOVE the cover too! :)
